Different skin types need different skincare ingredients and different routines. Normal, oily, dry or combination skin, firstly it is important to know your skin type to provide it with the necessary care.
So how do you know your skin type and which beauty routine you can apply? For that first, we need to understand the type of skin a customer may have.
How to know your skin type?
The type of skin and its needs can be influenced by external factors such as pollution, diet, seasons, smoking and internal factors such as hormonal variations or diseases. So your skin can be dry, oily, normal and in combination.
Each type of skin has its advantages and disadvantages, so it is essential to know yours, to sublimate it and enhance it!
Observe your skin,
By carefully observing your skin in the morning when you wake up, without products, you will perceive details that will inform you about its nature.
You should observe whether your skin:
- Has shine or not
- has imperfections, redness, blackheads
- What happens when you pull it, (is your skin tight or loose)
- has larger or smaller pores
- is soft or rough
What conclusions can we draw from it?
- Normal skin has a smooth appearance and a fine grain. It is soft, comfortable all day long, without blackheads or redness.
- Oily skin is shiny and oily. It presents shine, imperfections and has large pores.
- Conversely, dry skin is dull and peels. The pores are inconspicuous and it feels tight and has redness
- Finally, combination skin will have the characteristics of oily skin on the T zone, and dry skin on the cheeks.
To be sure of your diagnosis, you can take the tissue test:
Cleanse your face, pat it dry and wait at least 30 minutes. Then place a tissue on it to press for a few seconds. See where the fat zones are (only on the T zone, everywhere or nowhere)
Which skincare routine for which skin?
When incorporating new products into your skincare routine, wait a month to see their effects and if it’s right for you.
Simplicity for normal skin
Normal skin is the simplest since it requires little care. Gentle cleansing and moisturizing with vitamin c cleanser, serum and moisturizer will do just fine. A scrub and a mask when you feel the need.
Focus on hydration for dry skin
It is recommended to scrub your skin with a coffee scrub twice a week, then apply a rich moisturizer. You can then seal in the hydration with a serum.
For the evening, remove makeup from your skin with an oil or milk, then repeat the morning routine. You can complete this routine with a nutritious mask once a week to deeply hydrate your skin. Gentle exfoliation can be done once a month to exfoliate dead skin. Finally, drink a lot to hydrate your skin from the inside out.
Gentle routine for oily skin
Your oily skin is sensitive, so it should not be attacked with too intensive cleaning. Start by cleaning it with a whitening soap, then moisturize it with a light, non-comedogenic rebalancing cream.
In the evening, the same skincare routine, including the make-up removal using micellar water.
Once a week, do not hesitate to apply a clay mask. It will help to absorb the excess sebum off the face. Leaving supple skin.
Find balance with combination skin
Cleanse your face with a cleanser that is nutritionally enriched then moisturize it with an Argan oil-rich cream. Twice a week, you can make a scrub and a mask with a clay mask.
Tip- No need to combine dozens of products to pamper your skin! Once you know its type, you can easily create the perfect grooming routine for yourself
